Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the ongoing investigation of two incidents of sexual assault in the Borough of Palisades Park during the week of September 6, 2015.
The investigation commenced on Thursday, September 10, when a sexual assault was reported to the Palisades Park Police Department.
The female victim reported that she was followed from Broad Avenue to 2nd Street in Palisades Park, at approximately 10:25 p.m., by a short Hispanic male with a medium build, approximately 5’6” to 5’8” in height, approximately 30 to 35 years of age, and wearing dark colored pants.
The man knocked her to the ground from behind and sexually assaulted the victim with his hands before he ran from the area.
As a result of this report, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Victims Unit was notified and the joint investigation ensued. During the investigation, a composite sketch of the suspect was completed with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police, Composite Drawing Unit.
On Sunday, September 13, 2015, a second female victim reported to the Palisades Park Police Department that she was sexually assaulted by a Hispanic male on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.
The victim reported that she was walking north on Broad Avenue and then west on West Edsall Avenue, at approximately 9:10 p.m., when she was attacked from behind by a Hispanic male. The suspect knocked the victim to the ground and sexually assaulted the victim with his hands in the same manner as the previous report.
The physical description of the suspect was similar to the previous report from Thursday, September 10, 2015. Neither victim sustained serious physical injury.
