Police Release Image of Man Who Stole Car from Union Gas Station

Union Township (Union) New Jersey

The Union Township Police Department has released still images of a man who stole an unattended car from a township gas station Tuesday night and is seeking the public's help in identifying him.

At around 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, a man left his Infinity - with keys in the ignition and windows open - outside the BP gas station at 1701 Stuyvesant Avenue while he entered the station's store, according to police.

When the man came out of the store, a man was inside the car starting to drive away. The victim tried to climb into the vehicle through one of the open windows but lost his balance and fell off as the car drove away.

The vehicle was located later on Burnett Avenue near Morris Avenue, police announced.

The surveillance camera footage shows a man wearing black shorts and a striped collar shirt getting into the car and then driving away.

As of this morning, the case is still under investigation, and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police at (908) 851-5030.
