Newark Police have successfully recovered a vehicle connected to a felony shooting incident that occurred in the city's downtown area on Saturday.The discovery followed a ShotSpotter device activation, which alerted officers to gunfire in the 40's block of Hill Street shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found shell casings and promptly cordoned off the area for investigation. Although they conducted a thorough search for potential victims, no injuries were reported.
The breakthrough came when units on routine patrol in Newark's South Ward located the vehicle, abandoned near 244 Hunterdon Street.
A crime scene unit was immediately dispatched to process the car for evidence.
Despite the recovery of the vehicle, the suspects involved in the shooting remain at large.
The Newark Police Department continues its investigation into the incident, appealing to the public for any information that might assist in apprehending the suspects.
