Passaic County police are investigating a shots fired incident near Interstate 80 in Paterson after recovering shell casings early Tuesday morning.
A ShotSpotter device alerted authorities to the gunfire on Madison Street, close to I-80, just before 3 a.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and located shell casings but found no reported injuries after canvassing the area.
The suspect fled the scene, and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.
No arrests have been made.
