Two suspects are under arrest following a police chase involving a U-Haul truck in Newark that went through several towns before ending with property damage and injuries on Thursday evening.
Officers from the Essex County Sheriff's Office were among other departments that attempted to stop a U-Haul box truck just before 7:55 p.m. on Friday after the vehicle was seen driving recklessly and wanted for burglaries.
Police say the driver sped through sections of the city's North Ward, crashing into parked vehicles before coming to a crashing halt in the vicinity of 1st Street and 4th Street near Branch Brook Park.
According to police, two suspects were taken into custody, and EMS units were requested for an injured ECSO and at least one civilian driver whose car was sideswiped by the truck in the area.
The incident is under investigation.
