A police officer and at least two others suffered injuries after a pursuit ended in a violent collision in Newark's North Ward Saturday night.
According to a preliminary investigation, police attempted a motor vehicle stop in the northern portion of the city just before 10:15 p.m. when the driver of the car refused officers' lights and sirens then sped away.
According to preliminary reports, a brief high-speed pursuit ensued and ended in a crash of a civilian vehicle near Woodside and Montclair avenues, with suspects bailing from the car and running through yards in the neighborhood.
Police say two suspects were detained during a foot pursuit. All of the victims were transported to the hospital, suffering various non-fatal injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
