irvington Township Police officials are continuing to look into an armed robbery that resulted in injuries to the victim on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a statement released by irvington Township Police officials, the incident happened on Wednesday at approximately 11:00 a.m. where fast responding members of the police department were notified of a robbery in progress on Krotic Place.
Police say, upon officers arrival, they found a male victim was who reported being assaulted and robbed of his cellular phone by two suspects.
According to police, several police cars canvassed the area for a suspect who fled in a silver vehicle.
Several detectives investigating the incident found the victim's phone a few blocks from where the robbery occurred. The victim could not provide a description of the suspects.
Irvington Township Police Officials say the victim was treated and released from a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
According to official records received through an Open Public Records Act, the records show a sharp decline in violent crime in the Township since 2016 according to the documents received from state officials.
At the request of Irvington Township residents who contacted our staff, an Open Public Records Act request to sent The Essex County Prosecutor's Office seeking information on 'Homicide Investigation' counts for 2016, 2017, and 2018 was promptly received by RLS Metro Breaking News staff and shows vast declines in 2016 and 2018.
While there were some noticeable confirmed escalations in homicides in 2017 -in comparison to the other years requested- the records showed decreased activity during the summer months of all three years. State records also showed declines in violent crime during the months where reisdents are outdoors.
This investigation into Wednesday's incident is now in the hands of the Detective Bureau and remains active and ongoing.
