A police officer was transported to University Hospital for treatment after a being pinned between two vehicles at a location in Newark's North Ward on Monday afternoon.
Police say the incident happened at on McCarter Highway at 3rd Avenue before 4:30 p.m., where emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving reports of an injured police officer.
Upon arrival, crews were able to free the injured officer who suffered a fractured femur, according to reports.
One person was taken into custody during the investigation that remains active and ongoing.
Authorities are looking into what officially transpired during the incident.
