EMS transported a police officer to the hospital after he was struck by a car in Belleville this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, the officer was struck near the intersection of Union Avenue and Little Street just before 4 p.m.
Medical personnel found the officer on the ground suffering serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
