A 45-year-old man accused of driving drunk was arrested after striking and ultimately killing a motorcyclist yesterday afternoon in Linden.
Sunday shortly after 4 p.m., police responded to intersection of East Elizabeth Ave. and McKinley Street for a serious motor vehicle crash.
A 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle, being operated by Carlos Arce, 51, collided with a 1995 Toyota Tercel.
The motorcyclist was transported to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth where he was pronounced dead at 5:24pm.
The operator of the Toyota, Antonio Rodriguez, Hispanic Male, 45, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
He was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date.
More charges are pending a follow up investigation by the LPD Traffic Bureau and the Union County Prosecutors Office.
