Union County officials are looking into a police-involved shooting that occurred on a street in Elizabeth late Friday night.
Authorities are working on the details of what officially occurred, but according to preliminary reports, at approximately 10 p.m., police were notified of a suspicious male who had a gun on Rahway Avenue.
Reports said Elizabeth police officers arrived at the scene and found the suspect in the 400 block of Vine Street. Sometime during the interaction, at least one officer fired his weapon in the direction of the man.
Police have confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody and no physical injuries were reported.
Detective set up a crime scene where they began to search for evidence at that location.
The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
