Ocean County authorities are investigating a police involved shooting that left a man injured overnight in the city.
An exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police began in the 100 block of Haines Road at around midnight sending additional officers to the scene according to authorities.
Police reportedly chased the suspect immediately after the shooting ended prompting a search by several law enforcement departments by land and using a search helicopter reports said.
Officers located the suspect nearby suffering a gunshot injury according to reports.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where his injuries were not reported to be life threatening.
Three officers were transported to the hospital for evaluations.
The incident remains under investigation.
