Police Investigate Shots Fired Incident in Newark's West Ward

Authorities are investigating a shots fired incident that erupted in Newark's West Ward on Saturday night.SupportMultiple rounds of gunfire were reported around 9:40 p.m. in the Fairmount section, near the intersection of West Market Street and Fairmount Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, they found evidence of a shooting but no victims.

Officers began searching for a vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the gunfire, believed to be occupied by the suspect.

The car was later recovered in the 200 block of Lake Street in the North Ward, but the suspect had already fled and remains at large.

Police were alerted to at least one person who entered University Hospital, possibly connected to the incident, but no confirmation has been made at this time.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, and authorities are working to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the incident.Support
