Newark Police are investigating a shots fired incident that caused property damage in the city’s Central Ward early Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, officers were dispatched to the 50 block of Livingston Street around 3:20 a.m. after a ShotSpotter device detected gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, police found evidence of a shooting, including shell casings and a vehicle struck by bullets.
No one was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Authorities immediately notified local hospitals to be on alert for potential walk-in victims, but no injuries were reported.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Police are working to determine the motive for the shooting as the investigation continues.
