The Elizabeth Police Department is investigating a shooting incident on Tuesday afternoon that left one person injured.
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Seaport Drive shortly before 1:55 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered a person with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the hand. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
During the investigation, authorities found that a bullet from the incident had traveled through the floor of the location and entered the wall of a neighboring house.
Fortunately, no one inside the neighboring home was injured.
Elizabeth Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
