Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred earlier today on South 6th Street in Newark.
Around noon, law enforcement received multiple reports of gunfire in the vicinity of 288 South 6th Street.
A ShotSpotter device activated, alerting police to the unfolding situation.
Officers responded to the scene, where they discovered several shell casings scattered about.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported thus far, but the suspect responsible for the gunfire managed to flee the area before their arrival.
At present, law enforcement has yet to determine a motive for the shooting.
Residents and business owners in the area are urged to report any information related to the incident to the authorities.
Gunshots was also heard in the same area at 1:30 a.m. as well.
The police are actively seeking leads and cooperation from the community to apprehend the suspect.
