Newark Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred Thursday night in the city’s South Ward.
Officers were dispatched to the area near 336 Chancellor Avenue shortly before 10:25 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, police discovered multiple shell casings at the scene but found no victims.
A thorough canvass of the area revealed no injuries, though officials have alerted local hospitals to be on the lookout for potential gunshot victims who may seek treatment.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
No further information regarding the shooting has been made available.
