Police Investigate Overnight South Ward Shooting

Newark police are searching for the individual responsible for an early morning shooting in the city's South Ward on Saturday.

The incident occurred near 228 Hunterdon Street, drawing multiple police units to the scene. 

When officers arrived, they discovered numerous shell casings in the area, confirming that gunfire had taken place.

Despite a thorough canvass of the neighborhood, no victims were located, and no injuries were reported. Authorities believe the suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

At this time, investigators are working to determine who the intended target may have been. 

The suspect remains at large, and the motive behind the shooting is under investigation.
