Police officials in Newark are investigating a stabbing that left a man injured in Newark's North Ward overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to the vicinity of 11 East Sylvan Avenue after they received reports of an injured person.
Several police units arrived at the scene and found a male victim suffering multiple stab wounds to his torso according to reports.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where doctors began to treat critical injuries.
The motive for the stabbing remains under investigation.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
