Police in Newark reported no injuries in a shots-fired incident in a section of Newark's South Ward Friday.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the vicinity of 146 Dayton Street.
Police say a ShotSpotter device activated, alerting officers of a shooting in the area.
When police arrived at the scene, they found several shell casings, but no victims were found.
According to police, shell casings were also found in the area of Evergreen Avenue and Hanford Street.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no arrests have been reported.
