Police Investigate Multiple K2 Illnesses in Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that several individuals have arrived at area hospitals after becoming ill as a result of injesting synthetic marijuana, known as K-2, today.

According to Director Ambrose, at approximately 7:37 p.m., police responded to the area of NJ Railroad Avenue on a call of a sick person foaming at the mouth.

Upon arrival, officers located some 12 people exhibiting similar symptoms.

The victims are being treated with no fatalities reported.

Newark Police Division detectives are actively investigating the source and seeking to identify the distributor of the K-2 related to this incident.
