Law enforcement officials are investigating a violent stabbing that left a man injured in downtown Newark late Friday evening.
The incident occurred around 11:50 p.m. near the intersection of Branford Place and Broad Street.
Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of an injured individual. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified male suffering from a stab wound to his chest.
The victim was transported to University Hospital, where his condition was reported as serious.
While police suspect robbery may have been the motive, no arrests have been made.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are working to gather more information.
