Authorities are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred early Saturday morning near a cemetery in Newark’s West Ward.
According to police, the city’s ShotSpotter detection system alerted officers to gunfire near 328 South 18th Street at approximately 12:40 a.m.
Responding units arrived at the scene and discovered multiple shell casings, but after conducting a thorough search of the area, they found no victims.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and remains at large.
The Newark Shooting Response Team was deployed to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not yet provided information on a possible motive or suspect description.
