Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in a shots-fired incident that occurred early Thursday morning in Newark’s Central Ward.
At approximately midnight, officers were dispatched to 476 Avon Avenue after a ShotSpotter activation alerted police to gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, officers discovered shell casings at the scene.
Despite a thorough search of the surrounding community, no injuries were reported, and the suspect fled the area when police arrived.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to track down the suspect responsible for the incident.
