Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred in Newark’s North Ward early Wednesday morning, just hours into the New Year.
According to police, officers were dispatched to 801 North 6th Street shortly before 2 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, officers discovered at least one shell casing at the scene.
A thorough canvass of the neighborhood yielded no reported injuries. Police believe the suspect fled the area and remains at large.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been disclosed, and the investigation remains active.
