Police Investigate Early Morning Gunfire in Newark’s West Ward

Newark authorities are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred early Saturday morning in the city’s West Ward.

According to officials, the Newark Shooting Response Team responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 4 a.m. in the area of 167 Stuyvesant Avenue. 

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and discovered shell casings and other evidence indicating a shooting had taken place.

A thorough search of the neighborhood revealed no victims, and no injuries were reported.

Police say the suspect or suspects fled the scene and remain at large. The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation.
