There were injuries reported in a violent crash that had both of the vehicles overturn on a highway that borders Newark and Elizabeth overnight.
Emergency responders from both municipalities rushed to the scene of the accident that occurred in the northbound lanes of Route 1&9, just before the Route 21 exit at around 9 p.m. where arriving rescue crews found the severely damaged vehicle overturned on the highway.
EMS transported the injured to an area hospital where the extent of their injuries have not been reported.
The crash had police close the northbound lanes for the accident investigation.
Police are looking into the cause.
