Police in Newark are investigating an armed robbery reported in the city's downtown overnight.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., police responded to reports of a robbery in progress in the vicinity of Halsey and Bank streets.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect armed with a gun approached the victim and demanded personal possessions.
The assailant took an unknown amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
Police reported no physical injuries in the robbery.
