Authorities in Elizabeth are working to determine the location of a shooting after a gunshot victim entered the emergency department at Trinitas Regional Medical Center on Friday evening.
Hospital officials alerted local police after an unidentified male arrived with bullet wounds.
While the exact location of the shooting remains unclear, investigators are reviewing recent reports of gunfire in the region.
One possible incident under review occurred on Hunterdon Street in Newark—an area geographically closer to Elizabeth than another separate shooting reported overnight in Newark.
The victim's injuries were not immediately deemed life-threatening, and the investigation remains active as authorities attempt to trace where the shooting took place and identify those involved.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
