Jersey City Police recovered a loaded handgun after a foot pursuit of a male in a section of the city Friday evening.
Police said they received reports of a suspicious male reportedly armed with a gun on Gardner Avenue just before 7 p.m.
Officers canvassing the area found a person who fit the description and attempted to make speak with the male when the suspect bolted away from officers on foot.
Officials said police chased the suspect then captured him a short distance away.
The weapon was reportedly found in the suspect's possession during the arrest.
There were no injuries reported.
