Officers are being praised after playing a key role in saving a Rutgers University professor's life after he suffered a stroke while inside his locked home.
According to police, the family of the 68-year-old professor called police last Thursday around 11 a.m., concerned that they had not heard from the professor since Sunday.
Police arrived to the locked Kingsland Circle home shortly after. Upon initially searching the residence, police noticed a pair of glasses on the floor as they looked into the home through a window.
After further investigations, police rammed the door and discovered the man on a bedroom floor semi-conscious.
The man was transported to an area hospital. According to family, the man had suffered a stroke a few days back and had been laying there since.
