The bomb threat that forced students to evacuate Clifton High School this morning was unfounded, according to police.
Early this morning, school officials from Clifton High School received a bomb threat via voicemail. The message, which was apparently recorded sometime throughout the night, indicated a non-specific threat to the school district involving the placement of a bomb in one of the schools, as well as a secondary threat of a "mass shooting." According to the caller, both of the threats would allegedly take place sometime today.
School officials immediately forwarded this information to the Clifton Police Department. Personnel from the police department were then dispatched to the Clifton High School where a coordinated effort between law enforcement and the school district was immediately initiated.
It has been confirmed that the threats received by the Clifton school district this morning have also been received by numerous school districts in the area. There continues to be no credibility to these threats at this time, however, precautions are still being taken throughout the district in response to the situation.
Additional information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
