A police chase that initiated in Newark this afternoon ended in Bloomfield after the vehicle crashed.
According to initial reports, the pursuit of a Mercedes-Benz SUV started in Newark and continued through Belleville, Irvington, East Orange and eventually came to a stop along the Garden State Parkway, near Montgomery Street and John F. Kennedy Drive, in Bloomfield.
The suspects were eventually taken into custody after a foot chase through several backyards.
A weapon was recovered at the scene, according to authorities.
The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
