An early morning pursuit of a vehicle that was occupied by several male suspects who were reportedly wanted for a shooting in the city had police in Newark's Ironbound Section make apprehensions.
The exact location of the shooting is not immediately clear, but police attempted to pull over the vehicle in the city's East Ward when the car came to a crashing halt on Chambers Street with several suspects fleeing the scene.
Assisting police units converging onto the scene were able to immediately apprehend one suspect with two others sprinting towards Ferry Street according to reports.
East Ward cops preparing for the suspects' possible arrival at a nearby housing project, zoned in around the neighborhood when the second suspect ran right into the arms of awaiting officers on Hawkins Street and Ferry Street.
A thorough search of the apartment complex on Hawkins Street had officers reportedly apprehending a third suspect who was hiding on a roof a short time later.
Two of the suspects were adults and the remaining suspect was a juvenile.
Authorities located evidence that a shooting occurred in the area of Ferry Street and Lockwood early this morning but it is unclear if the apprehended suspects are responsible.
The incident is being investigated by Newark Police.
