A police car that crashed in a neighborhood in Newark's West Ward has Newark Police officials investigating the cause of the wreck.
According to preliminary reports, police were notified of a crash with injuries that happened in the vicinity of Sanford and 18th avenues just before 11:15 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene to find a marked police cruiser struck a parked car at that location. The impact of the crash forced the police car onto the sidewalk and wedged in between the house and the vehicle.
Officers were reportedly responding to reports of shots fired at another location before the crash occurred.
At least two police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries,
The official cause of the crash remains under investigation.
