Police today released surveillance photos of individuals suspected of stealing designer handbags and coats from TJ Maxx in Linden. Police were called to TJ Maxx store - located on West Edgar Road and Routes 1&9 inside the Linden Plaza - for a report of theft sometime before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Captain James Sarnicki said today. The group, suspected of being part of a gang targeting TJ Maxx and Marshall stores in the region, are said to enter the stores, grab several coats and handbags, specifically targeting Michael Kors, and walk out with the merchandise to an awaiting vehicle, Sarnicki said.
They are suspected of stealing several thousand dollars in merchandise at the Linden store - after several visits - which just opened within the past year. Detectives are working closely with store security and other police departments in an attempt to identify and apprehend the crew, added the captain. Anyone with information is asked to contact Linden Detective Michael Burnette at (908) 474-8535 or email crimetips@lpdnj.org.
