Two men are in custody this morning after attempting to pull off a armed robbery of a gas station in the city's South Ward late last night.
Police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress of a gas station located in the 200 block of Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 11:30 p.m.
The suspects reportedly pulled up to the gas station, ordered gas, then quickly pointed a gun at the attendants head and demanded cash before speeding away from the scene.
Several officers (who were already on patrol in the area due to heightened security from recent gas station robberies around the city) located the vehicle then boxed it in, taking two suspects into custody.
The suspects reportedly did not take cash.
Authorities reportedly located a loaded weapon in the vehicle.
It is not immediately known if the arrested suspects are responsible for a rash of gas station robberies that happened in the city in the past several weeks.
There were no physical injuries reported.
