A 53-year-old Rahway man was arrested yesterday after he burglarized a local apartment building.
According to police, shortly after 9:30 a.m. officers responded to an apartment building on the 1100 block of W. St. George Avenue for a report of a burglary.
Upon their arrival, suspect - later identified as Charles Flowers, 53, fled the scene after he was confronted by police.
Following a brief foot pursuit, Flowers was found hiding in a nearby dumpster.
“Home is a place of safety and comfort,” said Police Chief Jonathan Parham. “Removing those who undermine that security remains a top priority of this department.”
Police charged Flowers with third-degree attempted burglary, fourth-degree obstruction, and fourth-degree hindering.
A judge ordered Flower be held at the Union County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court.
