Police Arrest Newark Robbery Suspect

Newark authorities announced the arrest of Mr. Ramar Harris, 44, of Newark, following an armed robbery that occurred yesterday.

Accordingly to authorities, at approximately 8:10 a.m., Lt. L. Santiago, of the 1st Precinct, was flagged down by a woman who had been robbed by a man in the area of South 6th Street near 11th Avenue West.

The suspect displayed an aerosol spray can and sprayed the victim with its contents after taking her personal property according to police.

Lt. Santiago canvassed the area and observed Harris, who fit the description of the suspect, in the 300-block of Market Street.

Police say Harris was in possession of an aerosol spray canister and was immediately arrested then charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
