Police Arrest Newark Man Wanted for City Shooting; Second Suspect Remains at Large

One of two Newark men wanted for shooting at each other was taken into custody Monday, police announced.

Yesterday, Detectives with the Newark police division's Fugitive Apprehension Team and members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Braulio Lopez, 19, of Newark, on Broad and Clay streets.

He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

According to police, Lopez is accused of shooting at 20-year-old Joshua Garcia, on Carteret Street.

Police continue to search for

Garcia is also wanted for firing at Lopez.

No injuries were reported to either men.

The motive for the shootout was not immediately clear.
