Newark Police said officers arrested Lucio Mendoza, 19, of Newark and charged him today with burglaries at two restaurants that occurred a week apart in the city’s East Ward.
According to police, Mendoza was arrested after officers responded to a burglary alarm and found him inside one of the restaurants at 3:15 a.m. today in the 200 block of Ferry Street.
Police said that he was also identified as one of two males, who broke into another Ferry Street restaurant around 12:18 a.m. on March 7. In that incident, money, alcohol, and cigarettes were taken and computers were damaged.
These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court law.
