Police Arrest Man Allegedly Carrying Loaded Gun in Newark

Authorities announced the arrest of **Mr. Dennis Rogers, 30, of Newark,** for possession of a loaded firearm on Tuesday.

Police said, in response to a Crime Stopper Tip regarding a man with a gun, detectives responded to 9th Street and South Orange Avenue at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Detectives observed a male who fit the description of the suspect in the area.

According to Rogers becoming aware of their presence, the suspect tossed the handgun and fled.

Detectives apprehended Rogers and recovered the loaded .40 caliber handgun police said.

Police charged Rogers with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, certain persons prohibited from weapon possession and resisting arrest.

These charges lodged against Mr. Rogers are merely accusations.

Mr. Rogers is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
