Police in Newark arrested a 16-year-old juvenile from Newark for a carjacking that occurred in early July.
According to Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a lone male approached a vehicle in the 100-block of Dewey Street, punched the victim in the face and took her car.
Director Ambrose said his detectives developed sufficient evidence that led them to the 16-year-old as they identified him as the suspect in this incident where they later obtained a warrant for his arrest.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
