Police in Newark are reporting the arrest of Mr. Tyrell L. Megargel, 30, of Newark, after they say he was observed committing a gas station mini-mart burglary today.
According to police, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a concerned citizen reported to police patrolling the area of Elizabeth Avenue and West Peddie Street that a suspicious man was inside the Speedway Gas Station at 273 Elizabeth Avenue.
Responding officers said they observed Megargel inside and in possession of store merchandise valued at over $1,100.00.
He was immediately arrested.
Megargel faces charges of Burglary, Theft, Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief and Possession of Burglary Tools.
These charges are merely accusations. This suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
