Plainfield Multi-Alarm Apartment Building Fire Leaves Several Injured

Plainfield fire officials are looking into the early Monday morning blaze that broke out in an apartment building, leaving several injured.

Ice CreamFirefighters were called to the scene at 515 West 7th Street, a multi-family brick structure, shortly before 4:45 a.m. following multiple 911 calls.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and fire on the third floor, leading to a second and then a third alarm for additional manpower.

Firefighters worked swiftly to tackle the blaze, but during the operation, they discovered a seriously injured person in an apartment on the fourth floor.

Reports also indicate that several other occupants suffered non-fatal but life-threatening injuries, necessitating medical treatment.

The fire was brought under control within half an hour, but the aftermath left residents and authorities grappling with its impact.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation as officials seek to understand the circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.
