Union County authorities announced that a Plainfield man was sentenced for the stabbing death of 48-year-old Audrey Tanksley that occurred in 2011.

According to officials, Anthony James, 62, was sentenced to 60 years in State Prison for 1st-degree Murder, 3rd-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and 4th-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, directing that he must serve at least 85% of that sentence before being eligible for parole.

Plainfield Police said at approximately 5 pm on September 28, 2011,  patrol units responded to James’ home on the 300 block of East Seventh Street in Plainfield – in response to a 9-1-1 call made by James -- and found the body of 48-year-old Audrey Tanksley, according to Assistant Prosecutors Alaina Caliendo and Nicholas Hooker, who prosecuted the case.

“While this sentencing does not bring Ms. Tanksley back, we hope it comes as some small relief to her loved ones,” said Union County Prosecutor Daniel.

“I commend the dedicated efforts of Assistant Prosecutors Alaina Caliendo and Nicholas Hooker, Lieutenant Mike Manochio, Sergeant Lamar Hartsfield, and Detective Sonia Rodriguez, who worked tirelessly on this case.”
