GREEN BROOK, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Green Brook Township Chief of Police Samuel Caramela announced the arrest of Khiry Moody, 28, of Sumner Avenue, Plainfield.
Prosecutor Robertson stated that on July 6, 2018, at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Officers assisting the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force responded to a residence located on Lillian Street in Green Brook Township to investigate a home burglary. Burglary Task Force officer’s observed defendant Moody leaving the area of the residence on Lillian Street in a motor vehicle. At approximately 12:40 p.m.
Task Force officer’s conducted a motor vehicle stop on defendant Moody’s vehicle in the area of West 8th Street, South Plainfield.
The investigation revealed that defendant Moody was found to have various items of jewelry belonging to the residents on Lillian Street on his person.
Defendant Moody was taken into custody and a Superior Court-issued search warrant was obtained for defendant Moody’s person and vehicle.
Police say Burglary Task Force officers recovered a safe, a handgun, and rounds of ammunition that were taken from the residence as a result of the search.
Police barged Moody with 2nd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd degree Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, 3rd degree Burglary, Degree, 3rd degree Theft, and 4th degree Criminal Mischief.
Police say Moody was subsequently lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
