A two-alarm fire that destroyed a house in Plainfield on Saturday evening is being pinpointed to a person using a grill to reportedly barbecue meat on the home's front porch.

According to residents on Grant Avenue, a person was observed operating a grill shortly before the house at 500 Grant Avenue ignited in flames.
Firefighters arrived at the scene before 5:30 p.m. and began to extinguish heavy fire engulfing the house.
Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in under an hour with a search of the structure coming back negative for trapped or injured occupants.
The official cause of the fire is under investigation by Plainfield authorities.
