School No. 4 held a “Pie the Principal” fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 20, where students had a chance to try to hit Principal Suzanne Olivero with pies.
Officials said students paid 50 cents for every chance to throw a pie and all proceeds went to the school’s Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS) program, which uses events and incentive programs to reinforce positive behavior among students and a family atmosphere in the school.
Officials say there were morning and afternoon sessions of “Pie the Principal.” Pre-K through Grade 2 students will go at 9 a.m., and Grades 3 through 5 will go at 1:30 p.m.
Staff members also had the opportunity to take aim at their boss for a contribution to the PBSIS program. The whipped cream pies were donated by the School No. 4 Parent Teacher Organization.
Olivero is in her first year as principal at School No. 4 after serving three years as vice-principal.
School No. 4, at 1602 Dill Avenue in Linden, is home to 420 students in Pre-K through Grade 5.
