Pickup Truck Strikes Children in Newark's East Ward

Police in Newark's East Ward are looking for the driver of a pickup truck that struck and injured three children in the city before fleeing the scene a short time ago.

The incident happened on Ferry and Jefferson Streets at around 3:15 p.m when the driver of a white pickup truck struck three children -two 12-year-old twin girls and a 9-year-old boy - and a then drove off from the scene according to witnesses.

EMS treated the children for non-life threatening injuries and will transport to them to University Hospital as a precaution.

The van with NJ license plate number was tracked down to an Elizabeth address, where police towed the vehicle back to Newark as part of the investigation.
